This is something for the website, not the game itself.

Let me start with an example of Diablo 3: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian
You can choose all your skills there and then simply share a link with others to show them your skill setup (http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#hcjRkP!bZje!YccbcZ (this is not mine btw ^^))

I see it quite often in the chat here that someone asks others to make screenshots of their artifact setup. This has some negative aspects:
    - take the screenshot
    - save it somewhere
    - open an image hoster
    - upload the file
    - the one who wants to see the screenshot does not see the actual levels but only the costs for the next one and has to approximately guess the real levels (<- biggest negative issue!)

If we had an artifact/augment calculator we could just copypaste our export save code into the calculator and it automatically generates a link to the artifact trees that we can share with others.
Another positive aspect would be the possibility to plan possible builds, theorycrafting, numbercrunching, minmaxing, ... you get the idea ^^

Or if the information was directly visible from our profile... would be real handy.

I think that a better example would be something like http://bl2skills.com/gunzerker.html#000000000000000000000000000000000. You click on the skill and it opens up whichever next ones you have available and you can add pricing and the like. Then we share that link.

But this would be very helpful especailly for lower-level characters (like myself) to get advice on builds.

The Borderlands one is interesting. I like how you don't need to share your current build, you could share a snapshot of what it looked like at some moment, or configure it differently. All the information about the build is stored in the URL.

The Diablo3 skillcalc does the same with the URL ._. /barbarian#hcjRkP!bZje!YccbcZ
That's my whole idea behind this suggestion: timegamers.com/timeclickers/calculator#BlaBlaBlaMrFreeman1337

With both possibilities: Either importing our current build with our export save code or create a new build by clicking the artifacts manually.
To play around with the own build or undo a mis-click without building everything up from scratch (several hundreds of levels in the damage tree are a pain in the lower back ^^), we would need the possibility to decrease the levels by 1, for example with Shift+Mouseclick. Only in the calculator of couse.
Or to prevent clicking 0rgies for these x/500 level artifacts: Some kind of text field input, a dropdown menu with all possibilities from min to max, the option to do +-1, +-10, +-100 per click, etc.

I agree, the ability to add/subtract from the artifacts would be great. Maybe not on the fly but at the start of a time line, say before you purchase anything like team members.

A +/-1, +/-10, +/-100 would be beneficial during a redo. I have heard several people say they have used an auto clicker to get through a redo. This feature would make me consider a redo, because at this point I cannot fathom all that clicking and accidentally going over by 1 and over spending 1M :timecube:.

I like those ideas. Both of them.
Talent calculator to create theorical builds, talk about them, and the ability to see other players builds on their profile page, to compare them.

I will look into building this at least in a simple form. My webserver is down, what's new in the free-hosting world these days?

To solve these other issues and make the concept usable... what we really need is a talent import.

I would love to build a talent tree site that produces a string for users to paste in game after a re-roll. Done... Sinstaspecâ„¢

Well this is really, really ugly...

But I threw something together as a starting point.

Needs a lot of work, but allows sharing of talent trees via import paste.

    http://sinropa.co.nf/SinCalc.html

    To-do:
Collect the icons for all artifacts
Limit cube spending to the max of each artifact
Total up the cost of all purchases
Allow user to enter their time cubes as currency - prevent buying when not affordable
Stats such as % invested in each tree
    Graphical overhaul
    Bug check

SinRopa, that's pretty nice already :)

The To-do list misses the possibility to import the exported game save code to automatically get the build you are using ... but since this requires to decrypt the save code I think the devs would not be too happy about it, because it makes save file manipulating even easier. Although I think this already happened.

So until we get an official version with that feature yours can become a handy thing to share the builds even without the game save code import function. I hope you stick to it :) If you need any help or data or something, just ask here or in the chat.

Ya, without the save import it would be just as annoying to use as a re-spec would be.

It would be nice to see a talent export (and import) added so I wouldn't have to decode the save.

Just gonna quote an earlier post of me:
From my noob point of view those things don't seem to be too difficult to implement and would offer a workaround for now? Correct me if i'm wrong there :)

Currently you can manually edit the link if you want to jump 200 levels, click it 6 times and edit the 6.

But ya I would implement something to make it completely adjustable.

So I could add a bunch of buttons to complicate things, or would you rather see something like this:

    http://sinropa.co.nf/SinCalcText.html

Text boxes are ugly, but any adjustments would be trivial

Yep, that's one of the things. I think it's the best way since it does not add any extra buttons and you can still simply readjust every single value up and down easily without the need to locate the correct number in the URL. Keeping it user friendly and easy to use for everyone.

Well I went ahead and updated it so its now working.

You should be able to tab from box to box in the correct order - entering values should edit the export string when you leave the box.

I left the images clickable, for a case where you just want to increment a few.

The layout is rough but was designed around printing it out and being able to follow it in-game turning it sideways - which may be silly.

    Functionality seems good so far.

For the layout I would rather turn it vertically and imitate the arrangement of the artifact screen ingame, for a better overview and thus the creator and the viewers feel like being ingame and don't have to think too much (and thinking can be pretty difficult for some people :p)
That could interfere with the possibility to tab through the boxes inside one tree though ... Or could you prevent Tab from jumping from tree to tree and instead go to the bottom of one tree first and then jump to the top of the next?

There are some other design suggestions going around in my head but but please don't feel like i wanna dictate anything here:
    - testing if it still looks good if you add the maximum level for each artifact behind the text field: "[ ] of 500"
    - replacing the number with "FULL" (like it is ingame) when the max level is reached (maybe unnecessary if the first suggestion is uncluded)
    - the same for the weapon augments

The other things would go deeper towards being more calculator-wise, like summing up all :timecube:s used so far etc. I think for a first version it is enough to just share the build with others.
I can already see everyone having such a link in his/her profile or forum signature :)

I don't know if there is anything what I, or we, can help you with instead of only making silly suggestions, please tell me/us ;)
